Dear BLTC Adult Members,
Further to our communication earlier this week notifying everyone of our intent to hold a short Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on December 7th and the purpose of same, attached is a PDF version of our BLTC Constitution with latest proposed changes that we hope to get approved by our members at this meeting. All proposed changes to the existing Constitution document (version last modified in Feb 2022) are highlighted in YELLOW and can be summarised as follows
Clause 6; New wording related to Club Trustees, paragraphs (a) to (f) with a particular focus on existing Trustee retirements and new Trustee appointments – this is the most important section requiring change and the reason we are looking to do this via an EGM rather than waiting for our AGM at the end of January 2023
Clause 12; Finance paragraphs (f) and (g). The Club Committee and Steerco is very focused on strong governance and controls – we have taken the opportunity to add two paragraphs relating to Club loans
Clause 22; Membership Subscriptions, Family and Couples Membership – we have taken the opportunity to update the descriptions alongside the Family and Couples Membership Types as there has been some confusion here with new memberships, notably with the Family Membership
Clause 25; Amendments to Constitution; Finally we have also taken the opportunity to add a new clause into the Constitution which outlines how the Constitution itself can be amended. We feel that this will be beneficial to future Committees. We voted through some minor but necessary changes to the previous version of the Constitution at our AGM back in early February – this wording is in line with legal input and the process we followed at that time
We are recommending that all these changes be approved and adopted on the evening of December 7th.
