Winter League Phase 2

Dear members,

We hope you had an enjoyable 2024 at BLTC. We certainly had a busy year both on and off the court. Lots of success in Opens, Winter League & Summer Cup as well as lots of social events throughout the year. In addition to the three new courts which were finished earlier this year it was really a great year all round.

Speaking of courts, we are delighted to let you know that the start date for the upgrade work on courts four, five and six is scheduled to begin in early February. Once this work is completed we will have six state of the art courts at BLTC – something we're sure all members will welcome. Of course, as in sport, no pain, no gain and in order for the work to be completed we will need your patience. The good news is that we will still have access to courts one, two and three while the work is being done. The work is however likely to take ten weeks and during that time we will have just three courts available for members. We are however working on plans to try and ensure that members have access to another court close-by.

For this reason the committee have decided to limit the number of teams we will enter for Winter League competition this year. However, in order to ensure everyone gets to play in the Winter League this year we will be launching an internal Winter League competition for grades four, five and six. This will ensure that everyone who put their name forward for selection will be part of a squad for the internal Winter League competition. This will run only at the club but will be competitive and enjoyable. It will run every weekend starting at the end of January/beginning of February 2025. This is a new initiative at the club and we hope that you will enjoy being part of it.

If any BLTC players didn’t initially express an interest in taking part in the Munster Tennis Winter League phase 2 competition but would like to now get involved in the internal league for Grade 4, 5 or 6 you can contact Rosita, Chris or Denise to sign up.

One thing however is we need more men to get involved especially in Grade 4 or Grade 5 so please reach out to Rosita, Chris or Denise by text message/WhatsApp, Rosita (087 9838015), Chris (083 0064742) or Denise (087 2960052).

It will be enjoyable and we hope you do get involved in this internal competition.

We will communicate further on this in the new year with details on how it will run.

We will have our AGM at the end of January and as always we would love to see more people get involved with the Committee. Please get in contact with Niamh or Barry if you would like to be involved in 2025.
