We just wanted to provide an update to all of our members on the selection process for the upcoming Munster Tennis Winter League Phase 1 competition which will launch the week of October 18th with the finals scheduled over the weekend of the 12th/13th December. This is a special mixed doubles competition and we expect that the more traditional winter league competitions will take place in the new year.
Incredibly we had well over 50 applications from Club members for participation which is great to see. The selection sub-committee has been busy in recent weeks !! and has reached consensus on the number of teams that the Club will enter and the proposed names for each team panel. While each particular weekly fixture will only involve two ladies and two men, the Club will name and enter a panel of three ladies and three men for each team. This will provide full coverage in the event of player availability issues for any fixture and will allow tfor the rotation of the squad.
The entry deadline from Munster Tennis is Saturday 9th October and the selected panels for each BLTC team will be communicated later this week and posted on the Club Notice Board. Naturally we could not enter everyone this time around and we encourage those not selected to keep in mind future events & opportunities and to stay engaged with the Club Box Leagues, our Singles Ladder and other on-court events. We would love to see all 55 applicants also enter the Club Closed competition and more to come on this.
