Cancellation of City of Cork Masters (Vets) Tournament

Dear Members,

We are so disappointed to announce that we have taken a very difficult decision to cancel the City of Cork Masters (Vets) Tournament 2022 due to take place this coming weekend (Fri 21st – Sun 23rd Oct) at Bishopstown Tennis Club (BLTC). After careful monitoring of the weather forecast it is looking likely that there will be significant rainfall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on top of what we have already experienced in recent days. As with all we do at BLTC the safety of our members and guests is our top priority. Given that this tournament will only run over the weekend, such rainfall would also likely create significant delays or possible abandonment of games in a worst case.  An important factor we had to consider here is that many registered players for the tournament are traveling from places such as Nenagh, Tipperary, Leixlip and Waterford.

The Club Captain, members of the BLTC Club Committee & the Tournament Director connected at short notice and reached this decision unanimously.

We would like to apologise to all of our members who wished to participate in this competition & for any inconvenience caused.

As you can imagine everyone involved is as disappointed as you are and we greatly appreciate your support and understanding at this time.

Finally I would like to extend my thanks to anyone who offered to bake or who volunteered to help out with the running of the tournament, as always your involvement is always appreciated.

We look forward to hosting our Closed competition in a few weeks time so let's hope the weather will play ball next time!

Kindest regards,

Rosita on behalf of the BLTC Committee
