To BLTC Members,
We could like to let everyone know that we have just been granted planning permission to upgrade our courts and lights, add two new padel courts and expand our clubhouse per our submitted development plans. The planners have refused our application to cover 3 of our courts which is a little bit disappointing but overall this is another huge milestone in the history of our Club. Within 4 weeks hopefully, the planning process will be finalized and we can then begin the process of engaging a contractor and working towards getting Phase 1 of our development started.
This is fantastic news for our club and our members; we can finally replace our ageing courts and lights and add the new mini/padel courts. We are close to having the total money required for this phase already available based on the pre-tender prices we have received. We are hoping by the end of this year that all this work will be completed and we can then look at fundraising for the clubhouse expansion.
We will be meeting as a Committee over the next couple of months to work through the timing & logistics and better understand any short term impacts to our Members as the detailed plans come together. Of course, with any construction work there will be some disruption but we will be doing our very best to put contingency elements in place to ensure that things run smoothly. The end result will be a top class tennis and sports club for all of us all to enjoy for many years to come.
