Bishopstown and Ballinora Community Groups – Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP)

Hi Everyone,

I received this email the other day and spoke to Grainne, she is looking for people to take part in this training session to represent Bishopstown lawn tennis club. If anybody would like to take part, please email Luke at admin@bltc.ie and we will forward your details to Grainne.

I'm writing to you on behalf of the Cork Environmental Forum and Cork City Council as I am about to commence a programme of workshops on climate action for community groups and interested individuals in the Bishopstown area.

Please see further details below.

We would be delighted to have some representatives from Bishopstown Lawn Tennis Club in attendance if that is possible.  The training is free and will support groups in the Bishopstown area in developing an action plan together to enhance the local environment from a climate action perspective with the support of City Council.

Bishopstown and Ballinora Community Groups – Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP)

The Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP) supports community groups across Cork City to work out how each one can play a meaningful part locally to tackle the climate crisis and biodiversity loss.

The programme consists of 6 sessions of 2 hours one evening each week from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  The proposed first day of the training is Monday, January 17, 2022.  The training will take place online on zoom due to the current covid guidelines.

Session 1: An introduction to climate change and biodiversity and the CCAP programme and identifying local resources and skills available to the group.

Sessions 2-5: These 4 sessions cover 2 topics per session, with the facilitator presenting current information and resources, and also the group having lots of conversations and then coming up with ideas of what actions the community could take on each topic. The topics are Waste, Consumption, Food, Water, Energy, Travel, Biodiversity and Nature-based solutions.

Session 6: Sifting through the ideas that have come out of previous sessions to decide which actions could be achieved and are the most realistic to take further, and what will be needed to make them happen.

Ongoing support will be provided by Cork City Council, this workshop series is being delivered to community groups in every area of the city, all with the purpose to improve and enhance the city and suburbs from an environmental perspective.

Please feel free to email me here if you have any questions, or ring me on 086 8182126.

Thank you very much for offering to share this information with your members. I do hope some of your community will be interested in attending, we would like to have as many people involved as possible to build cross-group community and make environmentally positive and focused plans for Bishopstown for the future.

Kindest regards,

Gráinne
